Making It Real: The Haven Academy Students Get Hands-On with Elevate Healthcare
At Elevate Healthcare, our mission goes beyond creating cutting-edge healthcare simulation solutions — it’s about empowering people. Whether it’s the medical professionals we serve or the young learners discovering what’s possible in science and technology, we believe in building a stronger future through real experiences.
That’s why we partnered with The Haven Academy, a private nonprofit school in Sarasota dedicated to empowering young learners who thrive with personalized support. The Academy offers programs focused on practical academics, life skills and vocational training — all designed with the goal of setting students up for success not just in school, but in work and everyday life. Their approach is all about meeting each learner where they are and helping them build confidence, independence, and skills they can carry forward.
As part of a special educational initiative centered on workforce exposure and skill development, a group of students from The Haven Academy joined Elevate Healthcare’s production team for a hands-on internship experience. Students, ages 18 to 22, participated in a specialized workforce development camp designed to offer practical experience beyond the classroom. Throughout their time with us, the students worked directly with manufacturing processes, including additive manufacturing (3D printing) and casting. They also tackled essential tasks like cleaning and preparing parts, cutting foam and tubing, and helping build important components of our Medicor product line.
These weren’t just observation days — the students rolled up their sleeves and became part of the work we do every day.
Our team was just as inspired. With support and mentorship from Elevate Healthcare staff across the warehouse, the students not only developed new skills — they became part of the Elevate story.
This partnership would not have been possible without the leadership and commitment of The Haven Academy, whose dedication to educational access and individualized learning aligns closely with our values.
The Haven Academy doesn’t just prepare students — they also educate the community. Their team has developed resources to help employers understand and support workers with diverse learning styles and strengths, showing how inclusion starts with awareness.
